Tayto Nation


The brief: To create an on-pack promotion for Tayto that would really engage with consumers and increase sales over a 10-week period.

The solution: The concept we came up with was Tayto Nation – the new name for Norn Iron, home of Tayto. This multi-tiered promotion ran on-pack and via a dedicated microsite www.taytonation.com. Consumers from NI could win Tayto Nation goodies every day including beach towels, passport covers and t-shirts – all bearing the iconic Norn Irish Greeting “’Bout ye”.

There was also a promotion on Cool FM and Downtown that saw 40,000 “‘bout ye” car stickers distributed, and sampling was carried out at airports and ferry terminals to welcome visitors (back) to Tayto Nation. An on-line photo competition invited consumers to send in photographs of themselves in foreign parts with their Tayto packs or their ‘bout ye merchandise to win a case of crisps – these photos were then featured on-line on our Google Map of the world.

Results: Sales Increase of 17.5%

49,181 hits to promotional website with visitors and photographs received from over 50 countries! Tayto Facebook Site now has over 8000 fans (before promotion had just under 2000)!
